FindMyPeds at 30 Days: What I’m Learning
Thirty days in: the doubts, the little wins, and what’s next for FindMyPeds.
It’s been 30 days since I launched FindMyPeds. This feels like a good time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and where we could be headed.
The truth is, the question I’ve asked myself most often over the past month is: Did I make the right decision to leave my “perfect” job and begin this journey into the unknown? Sometimes I wonder if it was all a mistake. But little wins remind me why I started and give me reasons to keep going, even when the outcome is still uncertain.
I started FindMyPeds because I believe every family should be able to find a pediatric clinic or pediatrician that fits their needs and preferences. Among all the competing priorities for expecting parents, finding a pediatrician should be simpler. Parents should have the information they need to explore their options, rather than feeling they have to settle for the first practice they find or the one closest to home.
At a recent community event, a doula shared something that stayed with me. Families ask her for pediatrician recommendations, but conversations about practice philosophies can be personal. She saw FindMyPeds as a way for parents to explore those differences privately and decide what matters to them. Hearing that helped me see how this resource could support both families and the people guiding them.
Over the past 30 days, we’ve had more than 400 unique visitors to the site and 90 clinic profile views. That’s an encouraging beginning. I don’t yet know how many of those visits have led to a connection with a pediatric clinic, but even helping one family find the right fit would be worth celebrating.
So what will the next 90 days look like? More groundwork: meeting parents at community events, building relationships with birth professionals, and holding parent feedback sessions to understand what’s helpful and what needs to improve.
There’s still a lot to learn, but these early conversations give me reasons to keep building. Thank you to everyone who has visited the site, shared it with someone, or offered feedback. You’re helping shape what FindMyPeds becomes.
